Mandela’s Rivonia Trial Speech, 1964 -Mandela From Prison To President

I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons will live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to see it realised. But if it needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.

My little brother was born the day Nelson Mandela was released from prison. 11th of February 1990. It is somewhat of an honor for my brother. Also just like Mandela my brother spent many years in prison. But indeed for different less honorable reasons. He is free after 10 years in prison. He can’t imagine 27 years in prison while being innocent.
